Coins & Pins
Rich in heritage and layered with nostalgia, coins and pins hold a special place in the collections of discerning hobbyists and treasure-seekers. Similar to other categories, their stature is secured by hallmarks of collectibility: vintage origins, offbeat offerings, sets to complete, and high-value rarities aplenty. As demand and value rises, so does a need for authentication and grading by the industry’s most reputable experts at PSA.
Coins graded by PSA are specific to the hobby and unrelated to currency, with popular releases manufactured by Topps, Salada, and Pinnacle. Visit PCGS for services relating to currency coins and rarities.
Coins and pins are graded in accordance with PSA’s 10-point grading scale. As these items are less susceptible to wear than cardboard or paper, results often come down to strength of eye appeal. In regards to key elements that PSA graders focus on, consider the following:
- Scratches, dents, severity of rust (if present)
- Centering of the picture (obverse and reverse)
- Compression of the pin or coin
- Overall print and manufacturing quality
